you have excellent taste in lotr/silmarillion content and reblog some really great animal photos as well. we also have very clearly similar experiences/attitudes about judaism & jewishness in ways that make me feel less alone in it and also are a real delight to discuss with you. your passion about your research/field(/really i guess our shared field if you zoom way out) is deeply admirable, and it’s obvious in everything you do that you approach the work with compassion and enthusiasm as well as clear talent.

i think you have beautiful hair.  i love the palette of blues/teals/greens that you often seem to center outfits around, and how you wear things that seem very comfortable and practical but still clearly point to, dare i say, “elven” aesthetic sensibilities.

i admire you & your blogging tremendously! you are a very thoughtful, incisive person who discusses serious topics in a thoughtful and responsible way. i admire the ways in which you discuss your own experiences on your blog and i very much admire your commitment to sourcing and citing claims, especially given that tumblr is, ime, a context in which citation can range from difficult to actively discouraged.

i deeply appreciate the ways you talk about butchness and gender, both in how you’ve offered me specifically support and advice with my efforts at androgynous/masculine lesbian presentation, and also just generally in how you document your butch presentation and experiences–– you put together some really fantastic outfits! i really like your taste in jewelry.

your bugblogging is also fun and interesting; for all that i’m ostensibly a biologist i know very little about insects or arachnids and i occasionally fall down an entertaining research hole because of one of your posts about a particularly exciting centipede.

yes, still answering these! i loved meeting you that time, i hope we can do it again at some point because it was tbh too brief and you are, as one would expect, both charming and cute in person. you have a way of presenting your experiences that is both very honest and, often, deeply funny– i especially really like the parts of your comics that you’ve posted, you have a talent for conveying a lot of emotion in a single image. 

you have really gorgeous hair, and you take fantastic selfies, and i am so glad that we’ve stayed mutuals for such a long time!

oh, i love your blog! you are one of my favorite people on tumblr for art/fashion reblogs– you have a distinct curatorial eye and a good sense for the beautiful-but-interesting in an image. you talk in a very relatable (or likely to-be-relatable) way about your experiences with academia, which i appreciate! you also take excellent selfies.

i also really love tumblr as a way of seeing people be passionate about interests i know nothing about– i’m in no way a historian and know less than nothing about gymnastics, but it’s really fascinating to get snippets of your thoughts on history (in your field and your not-field) & really fine-grained gymnast opinions.

listen, i’ll be honest here, i sort of thought this meme was going to involve making short pleasant posts about each other/’s blogs, so i don’t exactly have a speech prepared. 

oh, for the love of god. i still think you’re a funny and charming and generally deeply appealing person; i have no understanding of the events of the last eight months, on any front, with anyone, and unless someone decides to tell me about it in small direct words then i definitely never will– that doesn’t mean that you should feel that you need to, i just want to be clear that i don’t know what’s going on, and therefore am using wild guessing to guide my behavior, and am sorry if that causes problems somehow. this is probably a terrible medium for any of these conversations to be happening in but like i guess we’re here now!

uh, i’m entertained by your bird jokes, you’re an extremely fun d&d player, you also have great fashion sense, i’m jealous of your talent for biology research but like in a positive way where really i just think your work is cool, i’m glad you like my hair, your blog is good, it’s a nice blog. i don’t know, i don’t have any deep counter-analyses of your character here, i mostly just think of you as an overall lovely person who i spent a while being overly extroverted at, and i’m sorry if that was at some point too weird.

yes, that’s what i’m going with here, we can all cope. i am probably not able to meet you at swordpoint here, or at least not blow for blow, but i can make the effort: 

i’m pretty sure that at some point you declared your desire to be inscrutable and i just took that VERY seriously and as we know Belief Becomes Fact, either that or you are just purposefully (and successfully!) totally opaque and my intentions have no part of it. regardless i have absolutely no guiding model of either you or your emotions, and presumably never will, but will take “curious” over “disgusted” with something best approximated as glee, given my options (or at least my own dubious and pessimistic guesses at my options! like i said: no model whatsoever). if i’m a book character you’re one of the more fascinating (and frankly, charming) black boxes ever created; i won’t pretend to know exactly what the candle is but i’ll assert that it’s possible that we’re actually both just holding flashlights.

it is very sad that tumblr would not permit you to send me a good bird photo; someday, i believe, we will achieve this level of rapport. i will comfort myself with the thought of previous good bird photos that we have exchanged in the past. there have been several.

you take great selfies (& have very nice hair) and i really like your sense of humor– you don’t post/reblog as much as many of the people i follow but all of your posts are excellent. we don’t really talk as such but i’m very glad that i follow you and get to see/read about your life. and, like i said last time, i very much admire your musical career as someone who has never so much as gestured toward such a capacity

i love the stable ecosystem that is you and i passing horse posts to each other, you from your position of being a funny person who actually knows about horses, me from my highly developed sense of deliberately ignorant horse fear.

frankly i cherish your presence in my online life; you are excellent and worth cherishing. and you take excellent selfies.

as i’ve said before, i admire your tendency toward emotional openness and your willingness to use intense and poetic language for intense and beautiful feelings. not least because it inspires in me some degree of the same, for instance see above. you are another of my gender inspirations/companions on the journey/etc. always glad to get your snaps. 

you’re someone who i really just want things to work out for, you know? you’re good and sparkling and deserve much happiness.
