yeah, fuck you too buddy.

thanks for coming with me for my Hair Transformation/encouraging me constantly/verbally beating me around the head every time i try to self-pityingly claim that i am righteously hated by someone who clearly likes me.

also, you’re a good writer and smart and people like you! ha ha, asshole.

no one tagged me in this meme but i’m doing it anyway so i can tag some people in it, i don’t even really write fiction

tagging @literalliterature @idionkisson @elucubrare @cinquespotted @raisedbyhyenas [eta: omg and @churchrat i forgot for a second that u were back!]

1) How many works in progress do you currently have?

i mean i’m actively revising four poems atm, i have two currently-dormant novels of about 10k apiece that i am refusing to work on until the spirit actively moves me again, and an extremely overindulgent short story (my least favorite form) that i write at 2AM whenever i’m feeling manic and full of misdirected ardor

2) Do you/would you write fanfiction?

yeah but not in a public forum because i don’t actually believe in “characterization” or “themes” and refuse to engage with people about them. i mostly just write fanfic when i’m feeling lazy and want to work out a specific interaction or plot, without any concept of it being something i could show to people or use in a class.

3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?

ebooks, although i like sometimes having paper books as a break/recalibration mechanism/thing that allows me to feel tired around 12AM. i don’t read that many books in general anymore mostly just tons and tons of online articles or medium-length internet fiction

4) When did you start writing?

extremely early, i know that at age 4 or 5 i was composing stories and parodic news articles, not that i had precisely grasped parody at the time

5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?

yes! i mostly show my writing to @literalliterature and our friend O, they are kind to me in my moments of hideous indulgence.

6) Where is your favorite place to write?

on trains. my usual train journeys are maybe 20 minutes max, which limits “flow” but adds emotional intensity induced by having to rush past the extremely tempting popcorn store without entering, every time

7) Favorite childhood book?

i don’t have favorite anythings. i liked lotr and certain diana wynne-jones. actually, no, my favorite childhood book was a short history of nearly everything, which is definitely best read at age 10

8) Writing for fun or publication?

i mean, “fun”

no, i am… slowly edging into maybe doing something with poems, because i am engaging regularly with professional poets who don’t seem to think i’m a total moron, but certainly my fiction is not going Anywhere

9) Pen and paper or computer?

computer, absolutely, forever, pen and paper is too slow to actually assemble thoughts on

10) Have you ever taken any writing classes?

i am taking a writing class right now. it is for poems, much like my last one was. i like it very much but i have to stop before i get habits and start to believe that writing is an allowable activity in which one is permitted to indulge.

11) What inspires you to write?

fraught, tortuous, anxiety-provoking interpersonal relationships; “crushes” which is the same as that first thing; depression; weekly course deadlines
